Advaith Jagannath – 1st Prize with Special Mention, Composition
The only formal musical education I had was my GCSE in music at my secondary school. However I’ve been apart of a few different competitions over the years. I won 3rd place in the Surrey Hills Young Composer Competition in 2022 for a short piano trio I wrote. In 2023, I was one of the winners of the ORA Singers Young Composers’ Competition and as a part of the programme, I had to write a choral work that was performed by the ORA Singers in the Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester cathedral. Recently, I was one of the winners of the BBC Young Composers’ Competition. As a part of programme, I have been commissioned to write a piece of music for the BBC concert orchestra – which will be played later this year.
