Jiechen Huang – 1st Prize with Special Mention, Composition
I was born in 2007 in Nantong, Jiangsu, China. Currently, I am a high school student with a deep passion for music. During my primary education, I dedicated my after-school time to learning the guitar and drums, eventually reaching the level of Grade 10 (Amateur) by the time of my elementary graduation.
Music has always been a significant part of my life, and I have shown talent in singing and instrumental music from a young age. However, it was during my middle school years that I discovered my true passion for music production. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a relentless drive to succeed, I embarked on a journey of self-teaching and mentorship under the guidance of seasoned industry professionals. Through massive hours in my spare time of dedication and perseverance, I honed my compositional skills and delved deep into the intricate world of music production.
One aspect of music that particularly captivates me is the art of arrangement, especially when it comes to strings. Despite not receiving formal training in instruments like the violin, viola, cello, or contrabass, I have made it my mission to study their techniques meticulously through various resources. This profound understanding has significantly enriched my abilities in string arrangement, allowing me to infuse my compositions with depth and complexity.
My musical endeavors have not gone unnoticed and yielded commendable result, with my works earning accolades and recognition in prestigious competitions such as the International Electronic Music Competition(Shanghai,) and the AIMA (American International Music and Art Association) International Composition Award. These achievements serve as a testament to my dedication and passion for music.
As a music producer, I have had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed symphony orchestras, string ensembles, and talented musicians from around the world. Notable groups I have worked with include the “Budapest Scoring Orchestra,” “International Master Philharmonic Orchestra,” and “Starliner Strings.” These experiences have enriched my understanding of music and broadened my artistic horizons.
