Simón Ortega Pérez – 1st Prize with Special Mention, Clarinet

My name is Simón Ortega Pérez, I was born on July 5, 2008, in Madrid, Spain. I am currently enrolled in my first year of Bachillerato and in the fourth level of professional music studies, specializing in clarinet, at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory in Alcorcón (Madrid).

I have been playing the clarinet since I was seven years old, and my passion for the instrument has only grown over time. My professional ambition is to dedicate my life to music, which continues to inspire in me the same excitement I felt the very first day I held a clarinet.

I have had the privilege of studying with renowned musicians such as Arno Piters, José Franch-Ballester, Annelien Van Wauwe, Bruno Bonansea, Davide Lattuada, and Juan Ferrer among others. Each lesson brings new enthusiasm and an opportunity to work hard and deeply enjoy the art of music.

Music is, for me, a constant source of inspiration and every time I play or attend an orchestra performance I feel a deeper connection to this wonderful form of expression.

In addition to music, I am also passionate about athletics, where I hold the honor of being the Spanish National Decathlon Champion. I am constantly amazed by the profound connection between these two great passions in my life.
