Vasco Manuel Nabeiro Pereira – 1st Prize with Special Mention, Composition


Composer, orchestra and choir director, pianist and teacher, Portuguese, born in Lisbon but raised in Campo Maior, Alentejo – Portugal, he did most of his musical studies in Spain.

He has composed for various instrumentalists and ensembles from all over the world, from Greece, Italy, France, Spain, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Israel, Cyprus, Mexico, Uruguay, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Germany, Portugal… 
His catalog contains more than 400 works. Having harmonized and composed more than 100 works.

He is a strong supporter of Portuguese poetry. But he has worked with most Romance languages. In 2012, he composed the Cantata “Mar Falante – Mer Parlante”, a bilingual Portuguese-French libretto of the Portuguese poet Inez Andrade Paes. In an effort to globalize, he composed more poems in English, including an opera “Splintered Flashes” by German librettist Michael Herrschel. 

With 5 other composers of various nationalities, he participated with the trio “Terra de Mar” on the album “Switch”, by the Galan Trio from Greece.

Together with his good friend Thomas Bramel, he founded Three Essential Elements https://three-essential-elements.org

He founded a wind quintet, “Pax Julia”, of which he is the musical director.

Rita Moldão, Portuguese soprano, presented two songs – “Chegando, veio março” with a poem by Brazilian poet Mário Alves de Oliveira and “Palabras de todos las estaciones” with a poem by Mexican poet Víctor Hugo Limón Mancilla.

August 15, 2021, participated as a guest composer in the International Festival of Abarca de Campos, Palencia, Spain, in a monographic concert.
