Zihan Geng – FIRST PRIZE with Special Mention, Composition

Zihan Geng (b. 2006) is a composer and pianist whose work bridges emotional expressivity with structural clarity. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the New England Conservatory of Music, he explores the intersections of mathematics, sound, and narrative form, developing a distinctive voice grounded in both precision and imagination.
Zihan’s music has been recognized internationally, earning him multiple honors such as the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, the Erik Satie International Music Competition Excellent Creativity Special Prize, and Gold and Platinum Prizes at the Debussy and Georges Bizet International Music Competitions. His works have been performed in academic and international settings, including the Etchings Festival (2025).
