Carlo Ayhllón is a Mexican composer and documentary filmmaker with extensive experience in film, documentary and television scoring, as well as concert music.

He won the Absolute Prize at the Mozart International Music Competition, the Gold Prize at The Beethoven Awards 2026 in Poland, and 1st Place in composition at the Bach International Music Competition 2026 in Poland, Erik Satie International Music Competition 2026 in the United Kingdom, and Swiss International Music Competition 2024 in Lugano, Switzerland. He also won the Best Classical Music category at the InterContinental Music Awards 2023 in Los Angeles.

His film music has received awards at numerous international festivals, including the Social World Film Festival, New Jersey International Film Festival, Feratum Film Festival, Ciudad Madero International Film Festival, Fellini Film Festival, Berlin Kiez Film Festival, Florence Film Awards, Hollywood Gold Awards, London Indie Film Festival and Pantalla de Cristal. He has been nominated three times for Best Original Score at the Ariel Awards of the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences for Las elegidas, Las tinieblas and El baile de los 41.

His contemporary music has been performed at international festivals in Canada, Chile, Russia, the USA, France, Switzerland, El Salvador, Germany, Italy, Guatemala and Mexico. As a classical guitarist, he has performed across Mexico, Switzerland, El Salvador, the USA and France.

In 2025, Ayhllón directed his first documentary feature, Mutation, which has received more than 30 international awards for Best Documentary, Best Director and Best Score. The world premiere of his double concerto Mutación took place on 25 February 2024 at the Nezahualcóyotl Concert Hall in Mexico City, performed by the OJUEM orchestra under the direction of Jeffery Meyer.
