Jose Andres Alvarez

Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Jose Andres Alvarez is a classical and jazz pianist and composer born in 2004. He has been playing the piano since he is 5 years old and composing since he is 14. He studied for 9 years with Russian piano teacher Natalia Tibets. In 2023, he was accepted to the following schools to study composition with scholarships of 50-60% over tuition: USC Thornton, Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Berklee College of Music and John Hopkins University. His compositions and compositional style have received great aclaim from these composition faculties. He is currently studying composition and film scoring in Berklee College, and his latest composition teachers include Steinway artist Stephany Tiernan and Laszlo Gardony (has collaborated with Dave Brubeck and Eddie Gomez). He has won in over 20 competitions around the world, in places like Germany, London, Washington DC, Connecticut, New York, Moscow, and of course in his hometown, Mexico (Mexicali, Monterrey and Mexico City).
