Natalie Schäfer – 1st Prize with Special Mention
Natalie Schäfer is a German-Czech composer, film composer, arranger, orchestrator, musician and teacher. She began composing at the age of 12 and wrote her first arrangements at the age of 14. She studied classical music theory and composition at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre with Prof. Dr. Dr. Lang and Prof. Wolf and with Mathias Steinauer at the Zurich University of the Arts. She has taken part in masterclasses with Prof. Dr. Sackmann (Zurich University of the Arts), Prof. Dr. Peterson (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz), Prof. Dr. Holtmeier (Freiburg University of Music), Prof. Dr. Sprau (Berlin University of the Arts) and Prof. Dr. Brandes (Mozarteum University Salzburg). She has already received a student teaching contract in music theory and has led music theory tutorials.
Natalie Schäfer holds a Bachelors degree on honor from Rostock University of Music and Theatre.
She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Composition for Film and Media at the Malmö Academy of Music (Lund University) with Nicklas Schmidt and Daniel Fjellström.
From September 2024 to June 2026 she will study in the composition diploma program, soloist studies in classical composition, with Prof. Bent Sørensen at the Malmö Academy of Music. Composers such as James MacMillan, Karin Rehnqvist and John Williams inspire her compositions.
Her music has been performed at Helsingborg’s Konserthus in Helsingborg (Sweden), at Malmö Live Konserthus in Malmö (Sweden), in Luzern (Switzerland), in Berlin (Germany) and in Rostock (Germany).
