Zhiyuan Wu

Wu Zhiyuan, a member of the Guangdong Wind Music Association of China, is currently studying at the Katowice Conservatory of Music in Poland, majoring in saxophone performance, and studying under Professor Bartłomiej Duś.
He started learning saxophone at the age of nine, and studied saxophone with young saxophone player Dong Jun, who is a master’s student in France, at the age of thirteen. At the age of eighteen, he was guided by Qu Yimin, a young master’s student who graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan. In 2017, he was admitted to the Xinghai Conservatory of Music to study saxophone performance, and studied with American performer Lei Zhaoyu. He studied saxophone quartet and saxophone ensemble with Xu Letao, director of the wind and percussion teaching and research department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Graduated from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in China in 2021. In the same year, he was admitted to the postgraduate saxophone performance major of the Katowice Conservatory of Music in Poland, and studied with Professor Bartłomiej Duś

During his undergraduate studies, he actively participated in the performance and study of chamber music with teachers Xu Letao and Lei Zhaoyu. In 2017, he performed in the opening ceremony of the first “Wind and Percussion” Art Week of Xinghai Conservatory of Music. In 2018, he held solo and ensemble concerts with the theme of “When Classical Meets Popularity” and “When Classical Meets Popularity Again” at the Kaiping Cultural Center in Guangdong Province, China. In 2019, she performed solo and ensemble at the opening ceremony of the International Summer Camp in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. In 2019, he performed in the Xinghai Conservatory of Music Orchestra Teaching Practice Series – Performance of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music Ensemble Orchestra with the China Conservatory of Music. In 2019, he performed in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, “My Motherland and I” – “Romantic Night” Saxophone Concert of the 730 Art Season.
During his postgraduate studies in Poland, he actively participated in the performances of the ensemble and the orchestra. he played the alto saxophone part and the tenor saxophone part in the wind orchestra of the Katowice Conservatory of Music in Poland. he played the alto saxophone part and the tenor saxophone part in the saxophone octet. In 2023, he performed a saxophone ensemble concert at the Wroclaw Conservatory of Music at the 4th Polish Saxophone Conference, and successfully held a solo concert on January 27, 2024. On January 31, 2024, he performed Gershwin and Bernstein’s concerts as a special musician with the Katowice National Radio Symphony Orchestra in the concert hall of the National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Poland, and played the tenor saxophone part. On March 16, 2024, he participated in the winners’ concert of the 9th International Music Competition nouvelle étoiles with the string orchestra at the Church of St. Elizabeth in Paris, France.
He has won the first prize in the 10th South China Wind Instrument, Percussion Solo and Ensemble Exhibition in 2019; the third place in the 1st Saxophone Solo Competition of Xinghai Conservatory of Music in 2019; the first prize in the saxophone ensemble of the 2018 China Youth Music Competition Hummingbird Music Award; the second prize in the 2023 London Classical Music Competition; the First Prize With Honor in the 2024 International Youth Music Competition in the USA; the First Prize in the 2024 Nouvelles étoiles online music competition; the Gold Prize in the 2024 VANBACH INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION; the First Prize in the 2024 Arcadia Music Competition; the first prize in the 2024 4th INTERNATIONAL GLORIA ARTIS MUSIC COMPETITION IN VIENNA
